Dahlias love sun. Place root on its side about 6″ inches deep in loose soil that is well drained. If you have gravely or very sandy soil you might want to mix in some compost with the sandy soil. Allow for 12″ spacing between plants. Use 5-10-10 fertilizer a few times after the plant is a foot tall. Water once weekly. Remove dead head flowers to encourage blooming. Blooms from August until frost.

Bulbs need to be dug up for the winter. Store in a dry, dark 40-45 degree location.
