With the the days at their longest for the year, it’s more like: what’s not blooming. Well, sunflowers are not quite yet, but they will be in about a week. Our gardens are flush with snapdragons, clematis, lavender, hydrangea, corn cockle, larkspur, roses, flowering sweet pea, flowering honeysuckle vine, Chinese forget-me-nots, delphinium & more.
Even though our fields are soaked and weedy due to an over-abundance of rain, production is still ok. It has rained daily for weeks now and it feels like we are living in a rainforest. But as farmers we do our best with what nature gives us.
Unfortunately, I do not have much hope for tomatoes or corn this year, but you never know. Mother Nature might surprise us and let enough sun shine.
