For the 2013 cut flower season, I am developing a bouquet CSF: Community Supported Flower program (a play on other farm shares you may have seen that use Community Supported Agriculture, or CSA, to benefit communities and their agricultural providers). You buy in at the beginning of the season and receive a unique weekly bouquet, fresh from the farm. This type of farm purchasing helps the farmer because we get a hand with the up front costs. You get a reduced fee and guaranteed fresh weekly designs.
“The Painted Tulip Flower Farm grows specialty cut flowers you may not find at a local florist. Our CSF, community supported flower, members receive a weekly bouquet made from the best and most beautiful blooms from our flower fields in Waterbury Center, VT. Your bouquet is different every week and changes as the seasons change. We are small 2-acre flower farm that draws on sustainable growing practices. Meaning: Your flowers are grown locally and your financial support helps a local farmer who cares about the the flowers & earth they grow in.” -Nicole D’Agata, Owner and Farmer
The bouquet CSA would start the second week of May and run until the middle of November. In recent years, Painted Tulip has had an overabundance of flowers. I am finding less time to be at farmers markets due to an increase in time and number of weddings we are involved in. The CSA will show you some of the proliferation of unique seasonal blooms we are growing. You’ll also be buying bouquets at a great price, and knowing that your money is going to sustainable, small Vermont farming. We try to purchase the majority of our farming supplies in-state from great folks like Grow Compost and North Country Organics (fertilizers).
You can pick up your weekly bouquet at the farm and take a peek at our blooming fields, or pick it up at the Waterbury Farmers Market (Thursdays 3-7 @ Rusty Parker Park from mid-May thru Oct).
