With wonderful moderate temperatures this month, our cold frame is cranking. We have daffodils and tulips that we are cutting daily.
The anemones we started at the end of December are blooming like gangbusters.
We started these in the house in controlled temperatures and then moved them to the cold frame in March. We are keeping them shaded to get nice stem length.
Ranunculus are starting to send up buds too. These were started at the same time as the anemones.
The muscari are pushing up blooms and make a thick blue carpet in their area of the cold frame.
The hellebores in the field are pushing up flowers as well. We have waited a year and 6 months for these guys. But once the plants are established they will flower every spring.
I am so grateful for this spring season’s weather. Last spring extreme temperatures (hot to freezing) wreaked havoc on our flowers. This season looks to have a better outcome.
