Many farmers have ritual walks through their land. Taking the same route means you notice small changes. Once the snow melts, I begin my pattern of daily morning walks. I bring a cup of coffee outside with me and I asses growth, damage, and what needs to be picked or cut back.
This is my ritual that sets me up for the day. Beyond planning my work, the walk also gives me a moment to enjoy the farm and appreciate the fruits of our hard work. Evening might be a nice time for a farm walk, but as any grower will tell you: you are much too exhausted to see with the same eyes as you do first thing in the morning.
I used to be able to keep the list of chores in my head but as the list gets longer throughout the season I am finding I need to bring my journal with me. May and June the busiest months here as I am trying to get thousands of baby plants and bulbs in the ground.. while still seeding and harvesting.
Okay.. its ritual time hope you all get a moment with your morning coffee in the garden. Its probably One of the best was to start the day .
Beautiful, Nicole!
