Day Lilies are a Northeast garden treasure. Of course, they don’t make great cut flowers, but once I had a house with gardens begging to be planted they became a must. There are many varieties and brilliant color palates on the property; one reason Day Lilies are a necessity. Also, they are very hardy in cold climates and have a very long bloom time; from late Spring through Autumn. Some even have the added bonus of sweet fragrances. A very important plant for the perennial garden. I’m just saying… As I have so many Lilies in the garden, I’ll share all their wonder with you over the next few posts. Oh yes, established Day Lilies can be divided and and used either to increase your plantings or it is fun to swap varieties with your neighbors and increase your color array. I could go on, but I’ll simply let you enjoy the flowers.
